OWNER/FOUNDER

Jayme Glover-Smith was born into dance by her mother Barbara Glover, owner of Miss Barbara’s School of Dance, the longest running African American dance school in Buffalo, NY. She was professionally trained in tap, jazz, ballet and gymnastics. Jayme competed in numerous dance competitions and pageants throughout the United States and Canada. A Buffalo native, Jayme attended Frederick Law Olmstead #56 and Nardin Academy. Her college career began at SUNY Brockport as a dance minor and ended at the University of Rochester with a B.S. in Computer Science.

While her professional career wasn’t in the field of dance, Jayme never lost her passion for the art that kept her grounded and instilled so many great qualities since childhood. As an adult, she wanted to stay fit and in shape so she exercised daily. In 2010, Jayme became an instructor for Body Shaping by Sandy where she taught a Total Body fitness class once a week. They were looking for ZUMBA instructors. Even though Jayme had never taken a ZUMBA class before, she knew she would like it since it was a combination of two things she enjoyed, dance and fitness. Jayme immediately found a master class in the area and became licensed in February 2011.

As a ZUMBA instructor, Jayme has enjoyed teaching classes in churches, community centers, schools and outdoor events. She is humbled by the popularity of her classes and is often requested to conduct sessions and entertain crowds for many community events and fundraisers from Buffalo to Rochester. She loves being able to motivate people to workout and have fun!

With her creatively artistic abilities, Jayme enjoys developing new choreography. In addition to developing ‘new choreo’ for her ZUMBA routines, she has choreographed countless pieces for groups and organizations. Jayme is head of the liturgical ministry at her church Bethel AME and step mistress for her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Buffalo Alumnae Chapter where she has put together numerous step shows.

Truly a woman of many talents, Jayme has a knack for planning successful events. She is very detailed oriented and believes in seeing things through from beginning to end. She has been the chairperson for the WNY Black Film Festival for the past 13 years and has planned and executed holiday parties, birthday parties, a summer dance program and re-birthed a Father and Daughter Dance. Her motto is ‘giving people more than what they expect!’

Jayme is dedicated to her family and her community. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognized for her contributions to the WNY community. Jayme is married to Demone Smith, former majority leader for the Buffalo Common Council and mother of Allen Joseph (14) and Aubrie Monay (12).
